Alexandrovsky region

There are 6 rural settlements within municipal entity of “ Alexandrovsky region”: Alexandrovskoye, Lukashin-Yarskoye, Nazinskoye, Novonilosoye, Oktyabrskoye and Severnoye. The regional center – Alexandrovskoe village is situated 941 km off Tomsk.
Alexandrovsky region is he most remote from the center northern region with the territory of 30 200 sq. km (9.6% of total territory)
Climate is continental, excessively humid
Population - 10148 people.
Main industry - oil, forest and food.

Asino region

Municipal entity “Asinsky region” consists of 1 Asino rural town and 6 rural settlements: Baturinskoye, Bolshedorokhovskoye, Novikovskoye, Novokuskovskoye, Novonikolaevskoye, Yagodnoye. The administrative center is situated 100 km fom oblast center.
Municipal entity “Asinsky region” is situated in the south-eastern part of Tomsk oblast, in the south-east it borders with Zyryansky region, in the south-west with Tomsky region, in the north-west with the Molchanovsky region and with the Pervomaisky region in the north-east.
The climate is continental, with long severe winters and short summers.
Population – 39 700 people.
Main industry - timber, wood-processing, food, formulated feed and flour.

Bakcharsky region

The regional center – the settlement of Bakchar is 220 km off the oblast center and situated on the bank of the river Galka, the tributary of the river Bakchar, which is flowing from the south to the north.
The municipal entity “Bakcharsky region” comprises 6 rural settlements: Bakcharskoye, Bogatyrevskoye, Vavilovskoye, Vysokoyarskoye, Parbigskoye, Plotnokovskoye, Porotnikovskoye.
The Bakchar region was officially established in 1936.
Geographic position
Bakcharsky region is situated in the south of the Tomsk oblast. In the north it borders with the Chainsky and Parabel regions, in the east with the parable regions, in the south with the regions of the Novosibirsk oblast, in the west with Shegarsky, Krivosheinsky and Molchanovsky regions.
Total area – 24 700 km 2.
Population – 15 600 people
Primary production - agriculture. In perspective – the development of iron ore industry.

Verkhneketsky region

The municipal entity “Verkhneketsky region” comprises 9 settlements: Beloyarskoye, Katayginskoye, Klyukvinskoye, Makzyrskoye, Orlovskoye, Palochkinskoye, Sayginskoye, Stepanovskoye, Yagodninskoye.
The regional center – the settlement of Beliy Yar, situated 295 km off Tomsk.
The Verkhneketsy region was founded in 1939.
Geographic position
The Verkhneketsky region is one of the largest administrative units of the Tomsk oblast with the total area of 43 300 m2. It is situated in the north-eastern part of the Tomsk oblast. In the north and east it borders with the Krasnoyarsk territory and in the south and west with the Teguldetsky, Pervomaisky, Molchanovsky, Kolpashevsky, Parabelsky and Kargasoksky regions of the Tomsk oblast.
Population – 20 500 people.
Economy base - timber and wood-processing industries.

The town of Kedrovy

The municipal entity “the town of Kedrovy” comprises 7 settlements: the town of Kedroviy, the settlements of Pudino, Lushnikovo, Ostanino, Tavanga and Rogalevo.
Kedrovy obtained the status of the town of the oblast subordination on 22 December 1987.
The municipal entity “the town of Kedrovy” is located in the north-east of the Vasyugan Plain in the valley of the river Chuzik (the Ob basin), 480 km north-westwards of Tomsk.
The total area of the municipal entity – 1697 km2 (0.52% of the oblast territory). Most part of the region is covered by forests (67.9%) and boggy plains (21.7%). Here basins of small rivers are located: the Olga, the Korga, the Tavanga, the Chusik. The territory is referred to the regions of the Extreme North.
Population – 4 900 people
The town-forming economy sector is the hydrocarbon material production (oil, gas, condensate) from the neighboring deposits.

The town of Strezhevoy

Its birthday the town celebrates on 1 September together with the anniversary of the production of the first ton of Tomsk oil, although the town was founded on the bank of the river of Pasola on 23 July 1966. The town is situated in the northern part of the Alexandrovsky region over the latitude 63 oN and occupies the area of 31.5 km2. The territory of the town is included into the second absolutely discomfort for dwelling area and referred to the territories of the Extreme North.
The municipal entity “the town of Strezhevoy” is situated in the north of the Tomsk oblast in the left bank of the river Ob within the borders of the Alexandrovsky region and covers the area of 0,2 ths. km2.
Population - 49 000 people
To the most extent the economy of the town is targeted at the oil production, its refining, and maintenance of oilfields. Strezhevoy is a home for oil engineers who are working in the territories of the Tomsk and Tumen oblasts.

Zyryansky region

The municipal entity “Zyryansky region” comprises 5 rural settlements: Zyryanskoye, Dubrovskoye, Cherdatskoye, Mikhailovskoye, Vysokovskoye. The regional centre is the settlement of Zyryanskoye.
Zyryansky region is situated in the south-east of the oblast and covers the area of 4 000 km2. In the south it borders with the regions of the Kemerovo oblast, in the north – with the Pervomaisky region, in the east – with the Teguldetsky region and in the west with the Tomsky and Asinovsky regions.
Population – 16 600 people.
The economy base – agroindustrial complex.

Kargasoksky region

The municipal entity “Kargasoksky region” comprises 13 rural settlements: Kargasokskoye, Novovasyuganskoye, Ust-Chizhapskoye, Srednevasyuganskoye, Tevrizskoye, Novoyuginskoye, Sosnovskoye, Kindalskoye, Ust-Tymskoye, Tymskoye, Tolparovskoye, Vertikosskoye, Srednetymskoye. The regional center is the settlement of Kargasok, which is located 427 km. off Tomsk.
The Kargasoksky region is the largest (86 900 km2 or 27.4% of the total oblast area) municipal entity among the regions of the Tomsk oblast. In the modern form the Kargasoksky region exists since 1959 when after administrative-territorial reorganizations, the Tymsky (1949) and the the Vasyugansky (1959) regions were added.
In the north it borders with the Alexandrovsky region and the Tumen oblast, in the east – with the Verkhneketsky, Parabelsky regions and the Krasnoyarsk territory, in the south – with the Novosibirsk oblast, and with the Omsk and Tumen oblasts in the west.
Population - 26 000 people.
In the territory of the region main oil and gas-condensate deposits are located. Here 60% of Tomsk oil is produced. There are several operators of oilfields in the territory of the Kargasoksky region: OJSC “Tomskneft,” OJSC “Vostokgasprom” and small companied which develop well with low production. 100% of all Tomsk gas is produced in the Kargasoksky region.
Priority branches for the development of small entrepreneurship are logging and saw materials production, processing of wild plants, fish catch, and its further processing.

Kozhevnikovsky region

The municipal entity “Kozhevnikovsky region” comprises 8 rural settlements: Voronovskoye, Kozhevnikovskoye, Malinovskoye, Novopokrovskoye, Pesochnodubrovskoye, Staroyuvalinskoye, Urtamskoye, Chilinskoye. The regional centre – the settlement of Kozhevnikovo is located 109 km. off Tomsk.
Kozhevnikovsky region is the most southern region of the oblast. The largest part of the region lies on the left bank of the river Ob and only the smallest – on the right bank. Concerning the area (3 900 km2) the Kozhevnikovo region is relatively small (1.2% of the total oblast territory), but concerning economic importance it takes an important place in the oblast thanks to it fertile lands and agricultural industry.
In the north the region borders with the Bakcharsky and Shegarsky regions, in the north and south with the Novosibirsk region and with the Tomsky region in the east.
Population -24 000 people
Main economy branch – agriculture. In the value output of gross output the agriculture accounts for 80%.

Kolpashevsky region

The municipal entity “Kolpashevsky region” comprises 9 rural settlements: Kolpashevskoye, Chazhemtovskoye, Novogorenskoye, Novoselovskoye, Sarovskoye, Dalnenskoye, Inkinskoye, National Ivankonskoye, Kopylovskoye. The regional centre – the town of Kolpashevo is 270 km off Tomsk.
Kolpashevsky region is located in the center of the Tomsk oblast. In the north it borders with the Parabelsky region, in the west and south with the Bakacharsky region and with the Molchanovsky and Verkhneketsky regions in the east. The area totals to 17 100 km 2.
Population – 46 500 people.
Economy branches – timber, wood-processing and food industries, machine building and metal-working, geological exploration and agriculture.

Krivosheinsky region

The municipal entity “Krivosheinsky region” comprises 7 rural settlements: Volodinskoye, Ishtanskoye, Krasnoyarskoye, Krivosheinkoye, Novokrivosheinskoye, Petrovskoye, Pudovskoye. The regional centre is the settlement of Krivopsheino.
Krivosheinsky region belongs to the central regions of the oblast. Its territory is located along the Ob. In the north the region borders with the Molchanovsky region, in the east with the Asinovsky region, in the south with the Tomsky and Shegarsky regions and with the bakchrasky region in the west. The total area amounts to 4 400 km 2.
Population – 17 000 people
Economy basis - agriculture.

Molchanovsky region

The municipal entity “Molchanovsky region” comprises 5 rural settlements: Narginskoye, Mogochinskoye, Suyginskoye, Tungusovskoye, Molchanovskoye. The regional center is the settlement of Molchanovo.
Molchanovsky region is located in the flood-plain of two large rivers of the Tomsk oblast – the Ob and Chulyum, which junction is the geographical center of the region. The area totals to 6 400 km2. in the north the Molchanovsky region borders with the Verkhneketsky region, in the west with the Kolpashevsky and Chayinsky regions, in the south with the Bakcharsky and Krivosheinsky regions and with the Asinovsky region in the east.
Population – 14 600 people.
Main branch of economy – agroindustrial complex.

Parabelsky region

The municipal entity “Parabelsky region” comprises 5 settlements: Zavodskoye, Novoseltsevskoye, Starytsinskoye, Parabelskoye, Narymskoye. The regional center – the settlement of parabel is 392 km off Tomsk.
Parabelsky region is located in the central part of the Tomsk oblast and stretches from the south-west to the north-east, covering the territory of 35 800 km2 or 11.3% of the total oblast territory. In the north and west it borders with the Kargasoksky region, in the east with the Kolpashevsky and Verkhneketsky regions and with the Bakcharsky region and the Novosibirsk oblast in the south.
Population – 13 900 people.
The economy of the Parabelsky region is mainly oriented at oil production.

Pervomaisky region

The municipal entity “Pervomaisky region” comprises 6 rural settlements: Komsomolskoye, Kuyanovskoye, Novomariinskoye, Pervomaiskoye, Srgeevskoye, Ulu-Yulskoye. The regional centre – the settlement of Pervomaiskoye is 110 km off Tomsk.
Pervomaisky region occupies a wide territory in the south-east of the Tomsk oblast on the right bank of the river Chulym (15 554 km2, 4. 9% of the total oblast territory). In the north it borders with the Verkhneketsky region, in the east with the Teguldesky region, in the south with the Zyryansky region and with the Asinovsky and Molchanovsky regions in the west.
Population – 20 500 people.
Main branches of economy are agroindustrial complex and timber industry.

Teguldetsky region

The municipal entity “Teguldetsky region” comprises 4 rural settlements: Beloyarskoye, Beregaevskoye, Teguldetskoye, Chernoyarskoye. The regional center – the settlement of Teguldet is 245 km off Tomsk.
Teguldetsky region is located in the eastern part of the oblast on the border with the Krasnoyarsky territory. In the north it borders with the Verkhneketsky region, in the south with the Zyryansky and Pervomaisky regions of the Tomsk oblast.
The river Chulym in its middle current divides it into left and right parts. Besides the Chulym the territory of the region is crossed by its tributaries: Chet, Chichka-Yul and the upper current of the Ulu-Yul. The total area is 12 300 km 2.
Population – 8 500 people.

Tomsky region

The Tomsky region comprises 17 rural settlements, which unite 118 settlements. Tomsky region is located in the southern part of the Tomsk oblast.
The region borders with the Kemerovo oblast in the south, with the Krivosheinsky and Asinovsky regions in the north, with the Asinovsky and Zyryansky regions in the east, with the Krivosheinsky and Shegarsky regions in the west.
The area – 10 100 km 2.
Population – 66 000 people.
Leading branches of the economy – agroindustrial complex, logging industry, production of construction materials and ceramics.
Development perspectives of the Tomsky region are connected with the deposits development of sandy gravel, building stones, mason’s sand, clays, peat, and deposits of carbonaceous, soda and chloro-natrium waters. The other direction is the tourism development

Chainsky region

The Chainsky region is geographically referred to the central regions of the Tomsk oblast. In the north it borders with the Kolpashevsky region, in the west and south with the Bakcharsky region and with the Molchanovsky region in the east. The area of region totals to 7 200 km2, i.e. 2.3% of the total oblast territory.
The municipal entity “Chainsky region” comprises 4 rural settlements: Kolominskoye, Ust-Bakcharskoye, Chainskoye and Podgornoye, the regional center – the settlement of Podgornoye is 286 km off Tomsk.
Population - 24 000 people.
The main economy branch of the region is the agroindustrial complex. Over the last years the wood-processing industry is being actively developed.

Shegarsky region

The municipal entity “Shegarsky region” comprises 6 rural settlements: Anasyevskoye, Batkatskoye, Pobedinskoye, Trubachevskoye, Severnoye and Shegarskoye. The administrative center – the settlement of Melnikovo is 64 km off Tomsk.
Shegarsky region is located 60 km eastwards from the oblast center. In the north it borders with the Krivosheinsky region, in the east with the Tomsky region, in the south with the Kozhevnikovsky region and with the Bakcharsky region in the west. The total area of the region is 5 000 km2.
Population – 22 400 people.
Main branch of economy - agriculture.

The town of Seversk

The town of Seversk is the largest town of Closed Administrative Territorial Formation system of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency. It is situated in the territory of the Tomsk oblast on the right bank of the river Ob, in 12 km from the oblast center – the city of Tomsk. It comprises the terrotories of the town of Seversk and suburban area: the settlement of Samus, villages of Orlovka, Kizhirovo, Semiozerki.
Total population, including rural, accounts to 114 000 people.
Now seversk has the largest atomic production complex in the system of the Atomic Energy Ministry, industrial enterprises, municipal economy enterprises, scientific, cultural and educational establishments.
Main branches of economy: non-ferrous metallurgy (production and processing of radioactive materials – “Siberian Chemical Plant”); machine-building and metal-working (OJSC “ Severskenergoremont”, “Siman”, OJSC “Samusky shipbuilding shipyard”), chemical and petrochemical (LLC “Polyplen”).
